Nobody builds an itinerary around a waiting room. It is the part of a journey meant to disappear once the next part begins. Yet a song heard there can remain attached to the trip long after a carefully planned excursion has blurred.
Waiting changes attention. You may be bored enough to follow a bass line you would usually miss, or anxious enough that a familiar voice feels unusually welcome. The music has arrived at a moment when you have fewer places to put your mind.
If the track matters to you, note what you can without losing sight of the information you are waiting for. An announcement, number, or departure board has priority. The song will be easier to pursue later than a missed connection.
Do not assume the music was selected to express anything about the place. It may be a staff favorite, a default station, or a playlist chosen months earlier. Its meaning in your journey can be real even when the choice behind it was ordinary.
That is one of the quieter pleasures of travelling with attentive ears. Not every discovery needs a knowledgeable guide or a famous venue. Sometimes the song that survives is the one that happened to be playing while your plans were temporarily on hold.
